Israeli Sinologist lectures on Chinese Historiography

Yuri Pines, Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was recently invited to give an address at Tsinghua University on re-examining the history of early Chinese historiography based on new discoveries of unearthed documents.

The lecture was also livestreamed globally through XuetangX.com, China's popular platform of free online courses initiated by Tsinghua.

About 60 Tsinghua teachers and students attended the offline lecture in-person, while more than 820 watched it online.

Chaired by Huang Dekuan, Professor of the organizing Research and Conservation Center for Excavated Texts at Tsinghua, it was the 32nd session of the university’s Wang Guowei Academic Lectures.

Through these high-end academic events, the organizers hope to inherit the humanism of Tsinghua scholars represented by Wang Guowei and help develop the university’s humanities.

Due to the normalization of COVID-19 prevention and control, the center has made use of the online tool to expand channels for sharing content.

In this way, the center strives to build an international academic brand of humanities for Tsinghua.
