The 2006 Fall Meeting of the Chinese Physical Society (CPS) was held at Tsinghua University from September 15 to 17.

Tsinghua President and Vice President of CPS Gu Binglin delivered a speech at the meeting. He gave an outline of the development of physics at Tsinghua University in the past 80 years and emphasized the importance of physics as basic science.

Professor C. N. Yang, the Nobel Prize Winner, delivered a speech at the meeting. Academician Zhu Bangfen, dean of the Department of Physics, also attended the meeting.

The meeting covered fourteen topics including particle physics, field theory, cosmography, magnetics, and optical physics.  A total of nearly 1,000 representatives participated in the meeting.
