Secretary of U.S. Treasury Talks with Tsinghua Students

Mr. Henry M. Paulson, Jr., Secretary of the U.S. Treasury,visited Tsinghua and talked with the students on September 21.

Also attending the talk were Clark T. Randt, Jr., U.S. Ambassador to China, Tsinghua President Gu Binglin, Tsinghua Vice President He Jiankun, and Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe.

In his remarks, addressed to nearly 200 people in the audience, Mr. Paulson made several suggestions for the students: to learn and to grow in their future job; to learn to embrace changes; to attempt to have a global vision; to keep a balance between personal life and job; and to hold a good attitude to their work.

After the short speech, Mr. Paulson answered questions from the students on topics including how to keep a balance between life and career, the development of Chinese business school, Sino-U.S. economic relations, challenges, and environmental protection.

Before coming to Treasury, Mr. Paulson was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs. He was the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University from 2000 to 2003.
