Tsinghua President Gu Binglin attended the 10th Association of Pacific Rim Universities Annual Presidents’ Meeting from June 22 to 24 in Sydney, Australia.

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) was founded in 1997, with the members including 36 high level research oriented universities in the Pacific Rim. The 2006 conference focused on macro-issues facing global higher education and the technological achievement transformation.

During the meeting, President Gu met with several university leaders including Professor Steven B. Sample, President of the University of Southern California, Professor Larry N. Vanderhoef, Chancellor of UC Davis, Professor Henry T. Yang, Chancellor of UC Santa Barbara, Professor David B. Frohnmayer, President of University of Oregon, Professor Mark A. Emmert, President of University of Washington, and Professor Gavin Brown, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney, exchanging ideas on cooperation and international exchange.

After the meeting, President Gu visited the University of Auckland.
